Positive Biopsychosocial Profile (PBP)

PERMA-V

PERMA-V, a framework for well-being proposed by positive psychology, encompasses five core elements: Positive Emotion, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning, and Accomplishment—along with Vitality. Together, these components are deeply connected to overall health. Positive emotions reduce stress and enhance immune function, while engagement in fulfilling activities boosts mental resilience and cognitive function. Strong, supportive relationships provide emotional support and mitigate feelings of loneliness, improving both mental and physical health. A sense of meaning and purpose has been linked to lower rates of depression and chronic illness, as well as increased longevity. Accomplishment fosters self-esteem and motivation, reinforcing positive habits. Vitality, through physical activity, nutrition, and adequate rest, directly supports the body’s systems and creates a foundation for maintaining the other PERMA elements. By addressing these interconnected dimensions, PERMA-V promotes holistic well-being, contributing to a healthier, more balanced life.
